Entropy is a measure of a system’s disorder. Energy is always transferred from hotter to cooler substances, which makes the ice melt. According to the second law of thermodynamics, the entropy of the universe increases through all natural processes. As the ice cube melts, the entropy of the molecules increases. When the entropy reaches a higher value, the system will become a equilibrium.
