,In principle, there is no difference beeen cost and expenses. Purhcase is the cost of the goods and not related to other operating expenses. Hence, we use cost of purchases for goods purchased for reselling. Expenses are usually refer to operating expenses e.g. rent, travelling, entertainment e and not the direct cost e.g. purchases, declaration e and all costs directly related to the selling business or the main turnover of the pany.,,会计定义上的分别是 :

cost 是必须支付采取某事的归属的金额, 费用或购货价。

expenses 是在经营和维护业务招致的每日费用。

Purchases 是 cost of goods sold 系 cost 最为重要一项目。
