A major earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale jolted Wenchuan County of southwest China's Sichuan Province at 2:28 p.m. The death toll roses to 69,016 ,368,545 people were injured and 18,830 others were still missing . It was unknown how many victims were teenagers and only children of their families, but about 7,000 schools reportedly collapsed in the catastrophe.

As of Saturday noon(30th,May), domestic and foreign donations stood at 40.1 billion yuan (about US$ 5.8 billion) and 10.78 billion yuan in cash and goods were forwarded to the disaster area, the office said.
